Reflection
The readings today remind us that the greatest riches are not found in money, success, or power but in knowing God and living according to His will.
In the First Reading, Solomon could have asked God for anything. Instead of asking for riches or a long life, he asked for wisdom. His humble request pleased the Lord because Solomon desired to serve God’s people faithfully. This teaches us that wisdom is one of the greatest gifts we can seek in our daily lives.
The Responsorial Psalm expresses deep love for God’s law. The psalmist treasures God’s commandments more than gold because they provide guidance, peace, and everlasting life. In a world filled with confusion, God’s Word remains our sure guide.
Saint Paul encourages us in the Second Reading by assuring us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Even our trials and disappointments can become instruments of God’s grace when we place our trust in Him.
In the Gospel, Jesus presents several parables about the Kingdom of Heaven. Like the man who discovered hidden treasure or the merchant who found a pearl of great price, we are invited to recognize that nothing compares with belonging to God. Following Christ may require sacrifice, but the reward of eternal life is beyond comparison.
Today’s readings invite us to ask ourselves an important question:
What do I value most?
If Christ truly is our greatest treasure, then every decision we make should reflect that truth.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Grant us the wisdom of Solomon, that we may always choose what is pleasing to You.
Help us to treasure Your Word above all earthly riches and to seek first Your Kingdom in everything we do.
May Your Holy Spirit guide our thoughts, words, and actions so that we may become faithful disciples of Christ.
Through Christ our Lord.
