And does this mean Catholics worship her?
The answer becomes clearer when we look at Mary’s relationship with Jesus Christ, the King.
Why Is Mary Called Queen?
Catholics call Mary Queen because she is the Mother of Jesus Christ, the King.
Jesus is the King of God’s Kingdom. Since Mary is His mother, the Church gives her the title Queen Mother.

The Bible does not use the exact phrase “Queen of Heaven” to describe Mary in the same direct way that Catholic tradition does.
However, Catholics see several biblical passages as important when understanding Mary’s special role.
For example, the angel Gabriel tells Mary that her Son will receive the throne of David and reign forever.
Mary is also described as “blessed among women” in the Gospel of Luke.
Furthermore, Revelation 12 presents a woman wearing a crown of twelve stars. Catholics have traditionally seen this image as having a connection with Mary, while also recognising that the passage has a wider meaning involving God’s people.

Is Mary Greater Than Jesus?

We may not understand everything God asks of us. Nevertheless, we can choose to trust Him one step at a time.
